Ozone is a gas that is naturally present in our atmosphere. It was first identified in laboratory experiments in 1839 and has the chemical formula O3 because an ozone molecule has three oxygen atoms attached to it.

The word ozone means “to smell.” Ozone has a distinctive smell that allows it to be detected even at very low amounts. Electrical discharges, such as the corona discharge method used in ozone generators, are used to produce ozone for industrial processes such as air and water purification.


When the oxygen (O2) that is all around us rises to the upper atmosphere, and is exposed to the sun’s ultraviolet rays, that oxygen is naturally turned into ozone (O3). The new ozone molecules are heavier than air and they fall back to earth. This is the ozone that naturally purifies our air and water. As the ozone (O3) re-enters the lower atmosphere it quickly gives up one atom of oxygen, which attaches itself to pollutants or contaminants and oxidizes them. Once the ozone has performed this critical purification task, all that remains is oxygen (O2), one of the most necessary elements to sustain life on Earth.

Ozone also occurs commonly in nature as a result of lightning strikes during thunderstorms. The “fresh, clean, spring rain ” smell that we notice after a storm results from natures creation of ozone. Ozone is also created by waterfalls and the surf at the beach.

Because it is made up entirely of oxygen, ozone is sometimes called “activated oxygen”.

Ozone is nature’s way of purifying the air we breathe and is one of the most powerful sterilants in the world. Its function is to destroy bacteria, viruses, spores and odors.

The life cycle of ozone is: generation, oxidation, return to oxygen. Ozone cannot be stored or transported because of its unstable tendency to break down quickly, so ozone must be generated on site.

The Food and Drug Administration has just amended its food additive regulations to permit ozone use as an anti-microbial agent.

The amendment, published in the Federal Register on June 28, 2001 allows for ozone use in gaseous and aqueous forms, and for safe and effective anti microbial treatment of meat, poultry, and other food products.

Tests have shown that common household bacteria, mold, mildew, and fungus are greatly reduced by the addition of as little as 50 ppb (equals .05 ppm) of ozone in typical household environments. Laboratory tests results indicate that ozone has been shown to dramatically reduce populations of: E-Coli, Salmonella Choleraesuis, Staphylococcus Aureua, Candida Albicans, and Aspergillus Niger.

5-10 GPM BWS

The Ozotech 5-10gpm BWS is a self-contained disinfection system that injects ozone into solution, allowing a 4-minute contact time to ensure biological kill. The system includes a 1.1 gram/hr ozone generator, 3-Liter oxygen concentrator, venturi injector, ORP controller, stainless steel pump & 40 gallon contact tank on an extruded aluminum frame.

10-20gpm & 20-30GPM BWS

Like the 5-10gpm system, these larger capacity systems are complete bottled water disinfection systems. Featuring BTU Series ozone generators and TOPAZ series oxygen concentrators, for ozone output ranging from 4.6 to 6.6 grams/hr. Both systems include a venturi injector, ORP controller, stainless steel pump & contact tank on an extruded aluminum frame.

45gpm, 60gpm & Custom BWS

As with our smaller capacity systems, all frame mounted systems can be shipped complete and ready for hook-up of power and water. The larger scale bottled water systems include our AIM technology ozone generators paired with supporting oxygen feed gas equipment. All systems include stainless steel contact tanks, pump and frame, along with an integrated ORP 4-20mA controller. Custom-sized systems can be shipped with or without contact tanks.

D-I Air Drier

The D-I Air drier is a small affordable air drier that is designed to change colors when the desiccant media stops producing dry air. Its compact size and affordability makes it the perfect choice for small ozone applications with a low duty rating. Once exhausted, the media can be recharged in your oven or in the sunlight in dry locals.

IQ-20 Air Drier

The IQ-20 Air drier is a single bed, air drier that delivers dry air by day and regenerates its drier bed at night. The powder coated enclosure protects the electronics while the timed electronics insure dry air during its hours of programmed operation. It operates with 115 VAC or 230 VAC and will deliver 20 cubic feet per hour of dry air.

The IQ-40 Air drier is a dual bed air drier that delivers dry air 24 hours per day. Its dual bed design allows one drier bed to regenerate while the other drier bed is in service. FloZone Counter Top System

The Counter Top FloZone provides bottled water quality to your kitchen faucet. When attached to your faucet FloZone will filter chemicals, pesticides and bacteria then add ozone to sanitize the water and the container that it is dispensed into.
